Northumbrian Water Limited and the Trustee have been considering the Scheme Rules which govern how pension increases (and revaluation of benefits for deferred members through a linked provision) are applied to pension benefits earned before 1 January 2008 under the WPS Section of the Scheme. As the position isn’t clear, it’s been agreed that the Court should determine the proper interpretation and application of these provisions. It may take up to 12 months for the application to be heard by the Court, but it could take longer.
Once we’ve considered the Court’s decision, we’ll contact all affected members. You don’t need to do anything right now.
