Northumbrian Water Pension Trustees Limited is a limited company responsible for ensuring that the Scheme is administered in accordance with the Trust Deed and Rules.
The members of the board of the Trustee serve as individual trustee directors. There are currently eight trustee directors - four appointed by the company and four nominated by members.
Company Appointed Trustee Directors
- Vidett Trustee Services Ltd (Chair)
- Ian Barnabas
- Richard Somerville
- Mark Wilkinson
Member Nominated Trustee Directors
- Fred Aujoux
- Chris Green
- Phil Thornberry
The Trustee normally holds four Board meetings a year. It has established sub-committees to get into the detail of matters such as funding, investment, governance and administration and they meet as often as necessary. Working parties tend to be established for a particular project and disbanded once that project has been completed.
The Trustee is supported internally by John Pengelly, Pension Scheme Manager.
The Trustee is also supported by a range of external professional advisers including actuaries, administrators, auditors, covenant assessors, investment consultants, investment managers, and legal advisers. Further details about the advisers are contained in the Trustee Report and Accounts available in the Documents section.
The Northumbrian Water Pension Scheme has three categories of members:
Deferred Members
These are members who were active in the Scheme when it closed to future accrual on 31 May 2022, or had previously opted out of active membership, or members who are no longer employed by the company.
Pensioners
These are members who used to be active/deferred members but are now receiving a pension from the Scheme.
Dependant Pensioners
These are the spouses or other dependants of deceased members.
We hope that the information on this website will have some appeal for all categories of member.
